Meet Brian Lipsett
Founder & Financial Advisor
Founder of Oakway Financial, Brian helps individuals, families, business owners, and retirees navigate important financial decisions through independent, fiduciary advice and long-term planning.
Why I Became a Financial Advisor
As the son of a single mother during my childhood, I was introduced to conversations about money, financial decisions, and the impact they can have on everyday life at an early age. Those experiences helped me appreciate how financial decisions can affect opportunities, security, and long-term quality of life.
Later, influenced by family members who worked in financial services, I became fascinated by investing and personal finance. I saw how seemingly small decisions, made consistently over time, could have a significant impact on a person’s future. As my career progressed, I became increasingly convinced that financial advice works best when the advisor’s interests are fully aligned with the client’s interests. The more I learned about the independent fiduciary model, the more I believed it was the right way to serve clients.
In 2019, I founded Oakway Financial to build an independent firm focused on objective advice, long-term relationships, and helping clients make informed financial decisions without being tied to a particular company, product, or sales objective. Today, I work with individuals, families, business owners, and retirees who want a trusted advisor to help them navigate important financial decisions and stay focused on their long-term goals.
My Approach
I believe good financial advising is about more than investments. The most meaningful financial decisions often happen during periods of change—changing jobs, preparing for retirement, receiving stock compensation, or navigating a major life transition. My role is to help clients understand their options, evaluate tradeoffs, and make informed decisions with confidence.
What I enjoy most is the combination of problem solving and personal relationships. Every client’s situation is different, and I enjoy putting the pieces together in a way that reflects their goals, priorities, and circumstances. Ultimately, financial planning is not just about growing assets. It’s about creating more choices, more flexibility, and greater confidence in the decisions that shape your life.
Who I Work Best With
Many of my clients have built a solid financial foundation and want a trusted advisor to help them make informed decisions, avoid costly mistakes, and stay focused on their long-term goals.
They are often successful professionals, retirees, or business owners who understand the importance of financial planning but prefer to spend their time focused on their careers, families, businesses, and personal interests rather than managing every aspect of their finances on their own. They value education, thoughtful advice, and a long-term relationship with an advisor who understands their goals and priorities.
Common Mistakes I See
Making investment decisions based on emotion rather than a long-term plan.
Leaving retirement accounts scattered across multiple employers.
Not understanding how investments are allocated or what fees are being paid.
Delaying important planning decisions until options become more limited.
Following financial advice that may not be appropriate for their specific situation.
